Peter Pan sleepover crest part 2

For those of you who saw my previous post - you might be wondering what the final design for the sleepover crest looks like.  The girls liked the shaped crest - but we changed a few things to make it look a little less like Robin Hood and a little more like Peter Pan.

I'm loving my new machine and the ability to make 8 crests at once.   A lot less time spent hooping and changing thread colours.  I can leave the machine to do its thing and get other things done.

So far I have 32 done and my machine is busy working on the next 8.   I see lots of thread clipping in my future.

Patchwork Cross Stitch Alphabet

This alphabet was free for one month.   You can still download the A to try it.

You can find the B for free and the entire alphabet for sale on my Craftsy Store.

I hope you enjoy them.

Peter Pan sleepover crest

The next sleepover I need to do crests for is a Peter Pan theme.  Some of the girls will have been at the Tinkerbell Sleepover from last year.

Below is the first attempts at crests.  On the green one - I need to curve the numbers a little.

I'll find out on Thursday which one and in what colours they like.

As part of this, I ended up digitizing 2 simple Peter Pan silhouettes (one standing, one flying)

Sneak peek:new alphabet - download the A

I'm working on a new alphabet: cross stitch patchwork

I didn't clip some of the threads on my first stitch out - but definitely needed to.

I have now converted the A into lots of different formats. This is my first try at converting - so I would appreciate it if you could let me know

  • which format you use
  • if you are able to read the file (either by your software or by your machine)
  • and most importantly - how it stitches out for you.
IMPORTANT: take time to clip the threads - especially on the "plaid" material.

NOTE: I have included 2 .PES files - the original in Version 10 - and a converted version in Version 2 (which is readable by my 20 year old machine/software so should be good for the older machines)

COLOURS:  I have digitized the patterns to use the same colour scheme on each letter - to make it easier to plan - but of course you don't have to do this.  The "patchwork patterns" you will find - and the original colour scheme (some of the conversions change the colours wildly)
  • Plaid:  lt pink, red, pink
  • Checked: sky blue, yellow
  • Striped: Drk blue, pumpkin
  • Polka Dot: white dots on Teal
  • Solid 1: Green
  • Solid 2: Purple
  • Outline: Black

New machine - new things to try

I was so lucky to get myself a new Babylock Ellisimo Gold II and Palette 10 (Digitizing Software) this weekend.   Such an upgrade from my old 20 year old machine and software from 1998!

So many things to test out and try.   It is able to stitch out designs that are 6 times as big (8" x 12") and stitch up to2 1/2 times faster than my old machine.

The updated software is going to save me so much time - I stayed up to 2:00 AM last night working my way through the manual just so I would know everything that it can do.  I was only 3/4 of the way through the book - but finished that this morning.

This afternoon I decided to try out the Photo Stitch capabilities.

Starting with this image

I just needed to click a few buttons, transfer the design to my machine, search out the thread colours I need and a little while later...

This is 3.8" x 3.6" with 14,087 stitches - 12 colours (although 2 of them barely have anything to do)

My machine said it would take 29 minutes to stitch out - I'm pretty sure it was longer than that - but I didn't time it out so I'm not sure.  I just know that it would have taken a lot longer with my old machine.

I think I'm going to have some fun with this.
