Snowflakes of another kind

So the group snowflake card making session worked out well.  This weekend I worked on snowflakes of another kind.

I made a chainmaille snowflake ornament and a smaller version for an earring.

Snowflake die cuts

I spent the morning cutting out die cut snowflakes.   I'm organizing a group cardmaking session for next week and need something fairly simple.  Next up will be embossing the card background

Reindeer in Sweaters

I noticed that I have a few stamps with Reindeer in sweaters or scarfs - including one of my new Sizzix stamp/die sets
I also noticed that I had some paper with reindeer in scarfs...

Now I'll just have to see how I end up combining them to make something interesting.

Christmas Tri Shutter Card

While checking out Beccy's site, I found the instructions for a Tri Shutter Card.  It looked intriguing so I decided to try it.

I used only red, green and ivory card stock.  Silver embossing powder and just a little bit of glitter to add a few enhancements.

Peace on Earth Card

Sometimes you need a simple card.  I wanted to use my Embossing Folder/Die Cut set
The simple card I came up with is

And I stamped this on the inside
I kind of messed up a little on the stamping - but it still looks good.

Shaped Snowflake card

My next card was a little more involved.  I decided to use my new Sizzix Snowflake dies.  You'll have seen that I used these in a lot of my other cards as well.
I wanted to try using the largest to make a Snowflake shaped card.  It took a while - but turned out pretty nice.

I had to cut out the big blue snowflake by hand.

Once I cut out the white for the snowflake shape - I realized I had the making of another card on my hands - so here that one is

Holly cutout card

After the previous card, I wanted something just a little simpler. So I made this Holly Card

Pretty simple - I just used my new Sizzix Holly Framelits die to cut the Holly leaf shapes out of the white cardstock and put it on top of my green card.   Both the White and Green were embossed with my snowflake embossing Folder.

The only thing I don't like is that I only had the one size of die cut for the berries - and it was a little small.

Other than that a pretty simple card.

Snow Tunnel Card

So I started looking around for some instructions for some more folded cards and I found this great blog
http://beccysplace.blogspot.ca/

This inspired me to make my next card.

The front looks pretty much like a normal card
But when you open it up - it isn't just a regular card

Time for Something Different

I've been taking a bit of break from chainmaille, because I hurt my thumb while biking.  Nothing major - just my bike is a little old so the shifters were getting hard to press.   I got them replaced and between the newer easier to press shifters and a bit of a break from so much biking, they are almost back to normal.   In the meantime, I've been doing some card making.  I bought a lot of new dies so have been having fun with them.

Simple Rubber Stamp Tree Card

My next card is pretty simple

I used my new rubber stamp with white embossing powder on a midnight blue background - to look like night.   After that I added opaque paint from a pen.   A small bit of silver glitter around the edge to make it sparkle.  Of course - I used a new oval die.

The Happy Holidays comes from my new Sizzix Embossing Folder/Die cut set

Snowman Step Card

The first card I made this weekend used a lot of my new toys...
The backgrounds are embossed using my new snowflake embossing folder from Darice.  The snowman is from my new Sizzix Die/Stamp set.
The trees are from my new Impression Obsession die/stamp set
The Merry Christmas cutout is from a Sizzix die.

I used embossing powder after stamping. This means I also got to use my new heat gun - after my old one died.
